I gave in...

...and put on a sweatshirt and jeans for the first time this fall.

We had a fun Saturday going to a parade in the small town where our business is located, home for lunch, and then off to the fair.  After getting home from the fair, we had a bonfire in the backyard.
Tim was so sweet to get four "roasting sticks" and put little marshmallows on them for us all.  He came down to the fire, announcing in a big voice, "Free marshmallows!  Get your marshmallows!"  It was so comical to see little colored marshmallows stuck onto the ends of sticks, but so sweet of him to think of it and make enough for everyone to enjoy.

  1. I love jean and sweatshirt weather. When I'm not leaving the house, it's actually sweatsuits. The only thing I don't like is knowing winter is on it's way. Blah! Roasted marshmallows... yum!

  3. Aw, bless that sweet boy. I actually smiled and warmly laughed out loud at the photo of him with his little sticks and marshmallows. My kids would have LOVED his gesture.

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...
