Upstate NY

Leaving Canada the same day we arrived, we camped at Niagara Falls KOA in Upstate NY. After a late dinner of pizza, we settled in for a good night's sleep with visions of a day on the lake for the morrow.  Our dreams were fulfilled beyond belief.  I managed to get in a workout and the boys a day of school before setting out, however.  Life of a homeschooling family.
It was a gorgeous day, unseasonably warm, and not crowded at all.  Perfect.

RoadTrip 2014
We rented a pontoon boat for a couple of hours.  The view from the middle of Lake George was even better than from the banks.  The boys swam and fished while Scott and I soaked up some much appreciated sunshine.

RoadTrip 2014

We spent some time in the town browsing the stores, mailing postcards, and people watching before heading out to our campground for the night.  We hiked through one campground and found some interesting handmade signs.  The scent of pine was so fresh and sweet smelling.  Different than our Georgia pines and certainly fresher air than most.

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...
