Why Alaska?

"We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people. For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you."                           1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

There's no easy answer to why Alaska holds the top spot in my heart for missions.  Statisically, Alaska is the most unchurched State.  Spiritually speaking, the act of reaching others with the Gospel just isn't being fully accomplished by the Alaska local church as a whole.  Personally, I know it's totally a God thing because I'm a warm weather, the hotter the better, kind of gal.  Except where Alaska is concerned.
Some things are just WOW kinds of things...Willingness to go and do whatever it is God is asking you to do.  Showing Obedience by following through in what He's leading you to do.  And, living out a life of Worship as you go.
Why Alaska? 
The best answer to this question is one I heard 3 years ago...
You don't choose Alaska, Alaska chooses you.

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. Wednesday's Walk...Janis Lynn

In searching for a photo from my senior year in college, I was bombarded with sweet, sweet memories of one of my closest college friends....Janis Lynn MacLeish.  I met Janis in the fall of 1993 when she came to Taylor University Fort Wayne.  She was in my wing of Lexington Hall.  Although, I was her RA, Janis taught me so much about life and living in a very short time that I often felt she did a better job leading than I ever could.  Life was never the same for me after she and I became friends.  It was oh, so much better!  The room brightened when Janis finally awoke and entered through the door of one.  She befriended the likes of anyone and made no enemies...except for the girls who were jealous of her for one reason or another.  Her laughter echoed throughout the halls everyday.  One knew when Janis was away for the weekend for it was creepily quiet on campus.
