L.E.N.S photo challenge: tilt

On one of our visits to the Georgia Aquarium, I captured a moment of the boys' fascination with the jellyfish.  Alex had tilted his head to get an even better look at how the jellyfish moved.
I find this exhibit one of the most relaxing and awe inspiring of the entire aquarium.  Standing there I find myself getting lost in the swaying movements of the jellyfish...and, for a moment, all is at peace.

  2. Thanks, Adrienne! If you can make arrangements to go during the week it's MUCH less crowded and more relaxing...especially if you go when it first opens in the morning.

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...
