Remembering Key West [3]

Some of my favorite moments during our trip to Key West in January... Rainy day reading after my morning run and coffee outing. Best coffee shop in Key West! First sand experience in Key West, just down the block from the Southern Most Point monument. Green tea and pj's make for a relaxing morning. The bikes in the rain reminded me of our trip to Amsterdam...{love}... Sand...palm trees...ocean...need I say more? The reminder of the Christmas season, Key West style...buoy ornaments and lights.

Because It's Cold Here Now: Remembering Key West [2]

Day 2 and beyond held lots of warm temperatures, rain, and pure enjoyment.  Some of the activities will be in their own posts soon to come.  Icemaggedon 2014 will last for a couple of days {at least}...no need to publish everything in one post.  *sigh* The sights and tastes of Key West are some of the best anywhere. Key West plays up their hen and rooster population in the gift shops. The lunch spot we had chosen for our last day was found to be quite a buzz due to the filming of Diners, Drive In's and Dives.  We went to plan B for lunch due to the crowds, but it was fun to hear Guy do the opening for the show, live and in person.   Plan B for lunch was delicious.

Because It's Cold Here Now: Remembering Key West

What would you do for a good deal on an airplane ticket taking you somewhere warm and tropical? Apparently, I would agree to getting up at 3 AM in order to arrive at the airport in time for a 5:45 flight to Key West in January.   Oh, yes. Yes, I did...we all did. We were crazy or desperate.  I'm not for sure is more true than the other.  And, it doesn't really matter.  We made out getaway just in time to avoid some of the coldest temperatures in a long time at home.   Happy dance! Landed around 10 AM in Key West after a short layover in Charlotte.  Another price one has to pay for a cheap ticket...go North to go South.  It no longer surprises me; happens all the time no matter the final destination's direction from whence one begins the journey. Made our way to the house we are renting for the week via taxi.  Nice guy. Used to live in ATL.  Funny thing...we run into people all the time that used to live in GA.  They seem ve...

Where I am...

“I don’t know where I am going, but I am on my way.” ~ Voltaire Spiritually... I am holding on.   A recent thought...what good is faith if it is never tested?  I have had a couple of conversations this past week on David's psalms; I totally get how he can be so all over the place in just a matter of a few of verses.  There is a hurdle before me and it seems insurmountable.  I do not feel alone.  I do not feel abandoned by God.  Nothing like this at all.  It is more of a question of how do I do anything more than just hold on?  My belief that God is good is not in question.  It is not a question of anything about God at all, but one of me. How do I make known His goodness, faithfulness, and grace to others when it is all I can do some moments to just hold on to Him?  When words will not come without tears?  When the battle between what I know and believe rages against feelings I cannot trust?  When the joy I have ...

Goodbye, Grandpa

Today is grandpa's funeral.  I remain in Georgia, while my family gathers in Indiana.  Life happens this way sometimes.  I am thankful to have had an opportunity to see Grandpa a few weeks ago before the snow fell and radiation began.  I knew it was probably the last time I would see and talk with him.  When you live away, you do what you can, when you can.  It is still hard, even after 13 years, to live 8 hours and 500 miles away.  Going home will never be the same and it breaks my heart to think about it.  My home away from home, Grandma and Grandpa's house...will be empty of the ones I love so much.  Just the thought of this breaks my heart... So, today, while I am at the clinic receiving radiation, my family will be laying Grandpa's body to rest.  My heart and mind will be with them in those moments.   Grandpa will forever be in my heart and memory.  He is now with Jesus.  In Heaven, where Grandma became a reside...

snowpocalypse 2014 [Tuesday]

Sometimes the quietness of snow is exactly what one needs... To embrace life as it happens. To find joy. To release negative energy. To laugh so hard after getting thrown from a sled and face-planting in the snow that it is impossible to get up for a few minutes.
