the last minutes of summer

As I am typing this, 2 minutes and some odd seconds are what remain of summer 2012.  It has been a wonderful summer...filled with warm weather, sunshine and rain, and many memories.
I was looking back over some of my photos and I realize that I didn't take as many as I probably should have of the normal, everyday kind of days.
We had many a day on the road or airplane leading us on adventures to places known and unknown.  But, equal or more were the days where we basked in the sunlight in our very own yard.
The days of summer went by way too fast as a whole, but some days were long in and of themselves.  If I were to do those long days over again, I would change up our routine and find something else to do in those hours to help pass the time and make special memories along the way.
I have learned (and relearned) a few things this summer...
I overplanned some things and underplanned others.
Comfort doesn't always need to come first.
It's the little things that make biggest memories.
Spontaneity is the spice of life.
Raindrops equal fun.
Life is too short to put off getting together with friends.
There's a fine line between control and chaos.
Miles are all that separate true friends.

So long, summer.
Hello, fall.

  1. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog last week! ^_^ I'm sad summer is gone, but autumn is my favorite season - hoping to make some good memories this fall. And you're right, it definitely went by too fast.

  2. Every season is passing quickly for me these days! It just seems like we just put away the Christmas tree, and now I have already started my Christmas shopping for the 13 grandkids and their parents! (:>) I have to start early or I never get it done. (:>)

I do love Fall though...and I treasure all the color and beauty. I hope that the drought won't rob us of Autumn's beauty and color this year!

    Happy Saturday!

#TransformationTuesday

"But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer."  Psalm 66:19 As one who has struggled with weight all of my life, seeing the ups and downs in jean sizes became my reality.  I would lose some pounds only to face a stressor in life and see them return and bring friends along for the ride.  I spent years believing lies, yet secretly hoping for a better reality.  Lies that I am not capable of overcoming my sweet tooth and that I am just not the workout type, topped the list.  I have never really lacked self esteem or self confidence; I know who I am.  However, I know from personal experience, others define me by what they first see.  Having been a plus-size lady for years, I was treated differently, intentionally or not, when I dropped pounds. My health journey to where I am today began back in 2010. It is amazing that things do not happen accidentally, even if they seem to in the beginning. Actually, as the pieces of my story have come together, this story begins w

My word for 2018.  Anchored. To keep from drifting. Representative of stability and strength. Connected. Held.  Grounded.  Positioned.  Fixed. Movable. Small, yet, essential part of a bigger entity. It is a standard by which to live; a goal for which to strive. Anchored.
