dpp [day 3]

For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction, so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures. Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you to live in harmony with one another, according to the command of Christ Jesus.  Romans 15:4-5
A rainy day spent in a quaint part of town with a friend...and a hot cocoa, so pretty, I had to take a picture.

Catching up with my friend, Jackie, was so wonderful today! We met back in 1990 at Bible Memory Camp.  I remember that year...I was a senior and she was a freshman.  I am not really for sure how much we got to know each other that year, but as time went on and we both continued serving with BMC, our paths crossed time and again.  We both traveled all summer long with BMC, differing summers, but it was around that time that our friendship fell into the "lifetime" category.
Jackie is an amazing woman.  So intelligent, studious...personable, endearing...lover of laughter and sugar packets...(Yeah, there's a story there.)...traveler of the world and admirer of all things orange.
She warms my heart and encourages my spirit.  Everyone should be so blessed to have a friend like her . ♥

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...
