don't laugh (dpp [day 31])

Finally. My only photo from December 31st that I took personally. Don't least I found one when I uploaded photos from my camera...even if it is of a lamp.  I was playing around with some settings on my new camera while lying in bed.  So what else is there to take a photo of on the last day of the year?
I give you my knocked-over-one-so-many-times-that-it's-crooked, bedside table lamp:

So much for a grand finale for december photo project least I accomplished my goal of at least one photo a day for the entire month. That's something. :)


  1. I think it is fitting! Light represents our Savior Jesus Christ and He is the blight of the World. We are supposed to let our light shine before man. So to end the past and start the future with "the Light"- perfectly appropriate!

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently.
It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself.
Not at all.
Never has been, really.

It is about the people who invest in me.
My husband. My boys. My family. My friends.
They all share themselves with me.
When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment.
They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs.
I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly.
My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meeting the n…
