one for the memory books

This week at camp has been amazing.  God has shown up and shown off...and we have one more day to go! The kids are opening up and letting their reservations go.  We are physically tired, but spiritually we are alive and kicking.  The worship tonight around the campfire was icing on the cake of a spectacular day.
Do not think that we have not had our fair share of challenges this week.  Satan has tried to get us caught off guard at times with problems that require time and attention, but never anything with the campers.  They have been great!  And, God's plan always wins out...His perfect plan.
Weeks on end...months, years maybe...this week will be on my heart as a one in a million camp experience.
Words are not even going to come close to describe how I feel about this week...what all I/we have seen God do this week...how 17 campers and 8 staff can all take over a small part of your heart...how much fun (pure, simple fun!) we have all enjoyed together...how blessed I feel to be given the opportunity by God to experience this...I can go on, but will stop for now.
When You did awesome works
that we did not expect,
You came down,
and the mountains quaked at Your presence.
From ancient times no one has heard,
no one has listened,
no eye has seen any God except You,
who acts on behalf of the one who waits for Him.
Isaiah 64:3-4
God is God...and He is good!

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...

Wednesday's Walk...Janis Lynn

In searching for a photo from my senior year in college, I was bombarded with sweet, sweet memories of one of my closest college friends....Janis Lynn MacLeish.  I met Janis in the fall of 1993 when she came to Taylor University Fort Wayne.  She was in my wing of Lexington Hall.  Although, I was her RA, Janis taught me so much about life and living in a very short time that I often felt she did a better job leading than I ever could.  Life was never the same for me after she and I became friends.  It was oh, so much better!  The room brightened when Janis finally awoke and entered through the door of one.  She befriended the likes of anyone and made no enemies...except for the girls who were jealous of her for one reason or another.  Her laughter echoed throughout the halls everyday.  One knew when Janis was away for the weekend for it was creepily quiet on campus. Janis ...
