snowflakes and me

"This is what God the LORD says-
he who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it,
who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it:
'I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness;
I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles...'"
Isaiah 42:5-6
Making snowflakes to decorate our classroom is always a fun craft for us to do together.  The boys really enjoyed it this year...maybe because it is easier for them to handle cutting through thick layers of paper all by themselves to make their "own" snowflakes.  It may be because these are the only snowflakes in our forecast so far this winter.
Beginning with a white paper circle, we folded it in half.  That half circle was then folded into a tri-fold triangle.  Snip! Snap!  Circles, triangles, squares, slits, hearts, wavy lines...they all make an impact on a snowflake's final form.  It's always exciting to see what the creation will look like once the folds of the paper are undone; revealing the masterpiece for all to see.  That's the best part!
Thinking about it now, my life is a lot like that of a paper snowflake.  God folds, molds, and designs my life into a one of a kind masterpiece.
All by His design.
All for His glory.
There is no denying that the cuts of life received while living in a sin cursed world can hurt.  Pieces that are hewn away are missed for a time.  The design does not always make sense.   But then I remember, one fold at a time, my life is being lived out...a lovingly created and uniquely crafted life given to me by my Heavenly Father.
I am human and along the way...
Mistakes will be made.  Wrong turns taken.  Hearts broken.
The beauty of it all will only be fully revealed in the end.
God is good and along the way...
He reminds me of His love.  His promises are "Yes!" and "Amen!".  He mends, heals, and renews.
I am reminded of the child's song, "He's still working on me...to make me what I ought to be..."
And I hear Him whisper in my ear, "I've got this."

#TransformationTuesday

"But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer."  Psalm 66:19 As one who has struggled with weight all of my life, seeing the ups and downs in jean sizes became my reality.  I would lose some pounds only to face a stressor in life and see them return and bring friends along for the ride.  I spent years believing lies, yet secretly hoping for a better reality.  Lies that I am not capable of overcoming my sweet tooth and that I am just not the workout type, topped the list.  I have never really lacked self esteem or self confidence; I know who I am.  However, I know from personal experience, others define me by what they first see.  Having been a plus-size lady for years, I was treated differently, intentionally or not, when I dropped pounds. My health journey to where I am today began back in 2010. It is amazing that things do not happen accidentally, even if they seem to in the beginning. Actually, as the pieces of my story have come together, this story begins w

anchored

My word for 2018.  Anchored. To keep from drifting. Representative of stability and strength. Connected. Held.  Grounded.  Positioned.  Fixed. Movable. Small, yet, essential part of a bigger entity. It is a standard by which to live; a goal for which to strive. Anchored.
