pleasantly surprised

The top is pieced together!  As I sewed the blocks together, I was pleasantly surprised that the corners matched up as well as they did.  I'm stopping while I am ahead, meaning that I am not adding the 3 layers of strips around the edges that the pattern calls for.  I am more than okay with my decision and so looking forward to the next steps of finding material for the back and beginning to quilt.
If winter decides to return, I'll be ready with my inside project to help pass the time.

  1. Looks great! The vibrant colors and patterns are so cheerful. Yes, I keep wondering when, if, winter will return...are we in for a wild spring?

  2. Thanks, Dorie! I am wondering the same thing about spring...we've already had tornadoes in my county in January. Eek!

  3. It's just beautiful! I love the colors :)

  4. Thanks, Aurie! I'm planning on doing some close up shots once I begin quilting so hopefully the details of the prints will show a little more clearly.

  5. so pretty! I love quilts... my mom and grandmother have always hand quilted, I have some beautiful ones, from them! I can't wait to see your steps along the way to your completed project, I know you will cherish this for MANY years to come!

It is about the people who invest in me.
My husband. My boys. My family. My friends.
They all share themselves with me.
When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment.
They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs.
I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly.
My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meeting the n…
