3 in 30: getting with the program

It has been more than a few months since I have last linked up with 3 in 30...no specific reason why, just life, I'd say.  We'll see how it goes again now.  There are a few things that have been on my mind to begin accomplishing in the next few weeks, so some wonderful, encouraging accountability just might be the ticket to getting my to-do list a little shorter.
November goals...
Go through boys' closet:  declutter, separate into keep/donate/sell piles, make a list of clothing to purchase to get through the winter months
Begin sorting through "hot spots":  A move is in our future.  I would like to get a good start on decluttering before crunch time.
Encourage intentionally:  As I am encouraged by others, I hope to extend that same encouragement to others.

  1. Janet, you are doing better than I have. I haven't participated in a year. Great goals. I know about that decluttering for moving.

  2. Your goals are so practical, and I'm impressed with your planning ahead for your move! I especially like your encouragement goal; we can all use a little more of that.

  3. Intentional encouragement! I love the concept. I might need to steal that one for next month!

  4. Those are great goals! I especially like the decluttering one, to get a head start on your move. I tend to accumulate, but the prospect of moving motivates me to let go like nobody's business. :)

  5. Love your desire to declutter and prepare for your move. This procrastinator would wait until the very last minute! I also love your last goal. I've been doing a lot of this myself. {so important}

  6. We have a move in our future too, this month! Wishing you all the best on your goals.

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...
