Opening Day of Birthday Season

Yes, my friends, it is that time of the year again...Birthday Season! The month long celebration of the little things in life that make every day a reason to celebrate.
Today, after we finished school, the boys and I had some fun running errands, working out together, and washing dishes. Why, yes, I did say washing dishes...we knocked out putting the clean dishes away, reloading the dishwasher, and hand-washing those which needed it in no time flat.
I so enjoy time with my boys.

Some big news was announced today, as well...I became a Beachbody coach!  I am excited to see where this new adventure leads.  Aside from a few "cosmetic" changes to some social media sites, I am still the same me being me with a new intentional purpose: Sharing my story to encourage others to begin rewriting theirs. It all begins with a choice to embrace change.
30 more days to celebrate my birthday...cannot wait to see what the days bring!

home of the Braves

As a metro Atlanta resident, it seems almost a requirement to go to a Braves game to continue living here.  I grew up watching baseball and loving the game...and have been to a few games in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit...and of course, Atlanta.  The problem for me going to a Braves game is purely mental...having been a Mets and Cardinals fan for years, I just haven't the love necessary for the Braves to call me a fan. However, as with many things in life that I haven't particularly enjoyed over the years, my boys make it so worth my time and heart.  I go watch the Braves because I love my boys...and my boys and I love baseball.  Well, they love what they know of the game...still in training, but getting the hang of the lingo and SOP's of a baseball fan rather well. There are a few things that remain the same from stadium to stadium..."the wave" (Braves' attendees do not always get into this, which is very di...

it's not about me

I reminded myself of this recently. It's not about me at all, this wellness journey I am on to a healhier version of myself. Not at all. Never has been, really. It is about the people who invest in me. My husband. My boys. My family. My friends. They all share themselves with me. When I am not at my best, I'm not giving them a good return for their investment. They get the tired looks, the lack of energy excuses, and the wimpy "maybe next time" cop outs. I have come to realize that those that take precious time to invest in me deserve better from me. I need to adhere to the direction given on any flight I've ever been on that goes something like this: make sure your own oxygen mask is properly secured before helping others. If I don't take care of myself first, my ability to care for others effectively diminishes quickly. My choosing clean eating, drinking enough water, and exercising on a daily basis is how I put on my mask first. Am I perfect at meetin...
